Readers Respond: What's Your Preseason Top 10?

Responses: 60

By Tim Hyland, About.com

So by now I'm sure you've all seen my preseason Top 25. In fact, I know you have—and I've got the emails to prove it. Basically, some of you think I'm crazy. Crazy for having Georgia Tech in the Top 10. Crazy for thinking Penn State can make another run at the Big Ten title without any experienced wideouts. Crazy for thinking Notre Dame might actually earn a BCS bowl bid.

And you know what? I'm tired of taking the abuse. Time for you readers to step up and share your preseason Top 10. Give Your Take!

TEXAS loses more than they think. COME ON TEXAS! You guys so rattled by OU you cant remember who always wins? geeze. get your facts together before opening your opinions.. thats like sayin that, since red is my favorite color, thats what color the grass is going to be in the morning. come on people. Oklahoma dominates. A few upsets every now and then but even we know that you cant win them all.

stupid longhorn fans

My God you shorthorn fans are still whining about not making it to the title? The idea that you still think you were screwed is hilarious and the false statement that texas will beat OU by more than ten this year is severely doubtful. Its doubtful texas will win this year at all so what if we have four new o-lineman? You think OU doesnt recruit that good? 7 national championships proves you wrong there. Bottom line OU lost to texas 45-35 texas lost to tech 39-33 OU dominated tech 65-21 at the end of the season OU was the better team no doubt. At the time of the red river shootout texas was better but texas messed up as always, and if texas would of played florida the way they played ohio state they would have gotten slaughtered period!!! Texas should of had that game one by halftime its ohio state they were not bad but they were not good either texas was a JOKE!!! at the end of the year your team screwed up couldnt put away tech stop whining and do something about it this year.
—Guest BOOMER SOONER

No Texas Tech and Kansas???

What? Kansas was sooo overrated last year, and they are this high in the preseason rankings? You have to be kidding!!!. Texas Tech has their whole line coming back, and this quarterback is way better than Harrell. Who cares if they don't have Crabtree, and Barron Batch was the leading rusher of the big 12 and he's just a junior. Potts was highly recruited by Michigan etc., but he chose Tech. This polling is such a biased Crapshoot. PERIOD. As it is every year.

DUH

you have boise state west virginia AND VA TECH ranked but who beat all of them in the past two years and is the team returning the most starters...E-C-U...now im not looking for a number 1 ranking but i think they would fit in right around 17-20

ncsu?

i just want to know y north carolina is in the top 25 and ncstate isnt?
—Guest wolfpacker1234

minor mistakes.

Notre Dame has a very EASY schedule and thats why theyre ranked in the top 25, not because there a top 25 team, but because of their schedule, which SHOULD produce 9+ wins, but I doubt it. Dunno why Lsu is so high, didnt they loose 5 games last season and throw like tons of interceptions? They were down 31-0 at halftime vs troy at home for gods sake! Georgia Tech is a complete joke.... they're overated from the start and will drop 3 or more games in the ACC. Boise state should be higher, they will probably go undefeated.

What a Joke

This is another typical preseason poll with the same bias as all polls. They are in love with the SEC, BIG10, and BIG12 with a major eastern bias for the ACC. All polls are the same. This happens every year. Wait until October and you will see the reality appear with Big 10 and Big 12 showing how weak they really are. Of course, nobody will admit any weakness with the SEC because the bias is always there. Not that I like to admit it, but USC will be one of the few still standing at the end of the season. Even with a new QB. Pete has more talent top to bottom than any team in the country. His only problem is that the PAC-10 is not as weak as everyone likes to believe and he sometimes loses focus on games he's supposed to win. Sorry for all the whining from Big West teams. No matter what your records are, you are not the best teams in the country! If you played a Big10, Pac10, Big12, ACC, SEC, or even Big East schedule, you'd get killed!

GT what what...

GT will stun you guys. Yeah, we're a bunch of nerds..but yall watch out this year. It's gonna be like freaknik back again..

Cal Bears in the Top 10

Watch out for Cal moving up with great coaching and a balanced run, pass and defense that will get them past either Oregon or USC or both this year and finally back to the top ten. Did I say anything about the best special teams in the Pac 10!

Go Cal.....Best for Heisman!

How 'bout them Cal Bears! Gotta love Best for Heisman. Here is his 2008 highlight film. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KFYB9ZEWs94

Uninformed

Whoever made this top 25 needs to take a look at the ESPN pre-season to get a better idea of what the real top 25 should be. Where is BYU and Utah in there?

rebel

Notre Dame in top 25., and Ole Miss only 21st. What are you smoking. This poll from top to bottom is 'un-legit'; basically a joke. Everyone has their opinion---and yours is exclusive I'll give you that! Ole Miss returns 14 starters, not counting pre-season 2nd team All-America kicker J. Schene, and three others on several 1, or 2 All-Am. teams. Need some more analysis....
