Definition: Ann Arbor, Michigan, is home to the University of Michigan. Which makes it, of course, one of the most important places on the college football map.

The city was founded in 1824 and is currently home to about 114,000 residents. It is located about 25 miles west of Detroit.

At the center of town life, of course, is the university, which moved to Ann Arbor from Detroit (where it was founded in 1817) in 1837.

Michigan has been playing football since 1879—and playing it very well. With 877 wins, Michigan is the winningest program in college football history. The Wolverines have won 42 Big Ten championships and 11 national championships.

Since 1927, Michigan has played its games at famed Michigan Stadium, also known as The Big House.
