Between 1953 and 1957, the Oklahoma Sooners won a remarkable 47 straight games. More than a half century later, it remains the longest winning streak in college football history.

Some say it’s a record that will never be broken. And that may be true, though the USC Trojans recently gave it a pretty good run. Between 2003 and 2005, coach Pete Carroll’s squad rattled off 34 straight wins before falling to Texas in the BCS National Championship Game.

Below is a list of the longest winning streaks in the history of college football. Only streaks of at least 30 games are included.

Oklahoma: 47 games (1953-1957)
Washington: 39 (1908-1914)
Yale: 37 (1890-1893)
Yale: 37 (1887-1889)
Toledo: 35 (1969-1971)
USC: 34 (2003-2005)
Miami (Florida): 34 (2000-2003)
Penn: 34 (1894-1896)
Oklahoma: 31 (1948-1950)
Pittsburgh: 31 (1914-1918)
Penn: 31 (1896-1898)
Texas: 30 (1968-1970)
