Definition: "Boomer Sooner" is the official fight song of the University of Oklahoma.

The song was written in 1905 by Oklahoma student Arthur M. Alden, who borrowed the melody from Yale's "Boola Boola" and penned lyrics referencing the Oklahoma Land Run of 1889. "Boomers" were the settlers who arrived when the run officially began; "Sooners" were those who arrived ahead of time.

The song was later modified to include some of the melody from "I'm a Tarheel Born," the fight song at the University of North Carolina.

The lyrics to "Boomer Sooner" are, well, simple. They are as follows:

Boomer Sooner, Boomer Sooner
Boomer Sooner, Boomer Sooner
Boomer Sooner, Boomer Sooner
Boomer Sooner, OK U!
Oklahoma, Oklahoma
Oklahoma, Oklahoma
Oklahoma, Oklahoma
Oklahoma, OK U!
I'm a Sooner born and Sooner bred
and when I die, I'll be Sooner dead
Rah Oklahoma, Rah Oklahoma
Rah Oklahoma, OK U!
