The first Rose Bowl Game was played in Pasadena, Calif., in 1902. The game resumed 14 years later and has been played there ever since—with the exception of 1942, when the game was moved to Durham, North Carolina, because of fears of a Japanese attack on the West Coast in the wake of Pearl Harbor.
