It's a very tired cliche at this point to say that National Signing Day has become an unofficial holiday for college football fans.
But the thing is, there is a lot of truth in that cliche. Because in many corners of this college football nation, National Signing Day really is a holiday. Here in the doldrums of winter, with the next season so far away and even those spring games months ahead in the distance, National Signing Day offers more than just something to talk about.
It also offers us hope.
That's especially true this year if you're an Ole Miss fan, or a Penn State fan, or a fan of any those schools that so routinely and so predictably end up among the Top 10 of the recruiting ranking (but, yeah, especially if you're an Ole Miss fan).
Yes, it may be based entirely on speculation, and yes, those "star rankings" are completely subjective.
But National Signing Day really does matter. It matters a lot.
And you can read up on all of the biggest storylines from this year's unofficial college football holiday right here. Enjoy.
