It's begun.
Already, it's begun.
As you all now know, Notre Dame knocked off USC on Saturday night to clinch a spot in the BCS National Championship Game. But they did more than that.
By toppling the Trojans and booking their place in this year's title tilt, the Irish also set off an entirely inevitable round of bellyaching down South, as the denizens of SEC Nation have begun to decry the great injustice of allowing Notre Dame (they of the supposedly weak schedule) to play for all the marbles, while a theoretically more deserving team (i.e., Florida) gets left out in the cold. I mean, I've even seen one pro-SEC pundit proclaim that the Irish would be no better than the seventh-best team in the SEC.
It was completely predictable, this backlash.
But it's also completely misguided.
I'll explain why right here, in this week's edition of Sunday Morning Observations.
And hey, congrats Notre Dame. You certainly deserve it. No matter what they say down South.
